For the past ten years, Alpitec China has had a significant impact on the market for mountain and winter technologies in China and is going to celebrate its tenth edition together with ISPO BEIJING in the China National Convention Center (CNCC) in Beijing from the 24th to the 27th of January 2018.
Alpitec China 2017 was a success, with 68 exhibitors coming from 11 countries and over 40,000 visitors, together with ISPO Beijing. To celebrate its tenth edition, Alpitec China 2018 presents itself bigger than ever, moving into Hall 4 of the CNCC. In this new position, the exhibition area of Alpitec China increases by over 60% and will be well over 4.000 square meters.
The Chinese winter sports sector is enjoying constant growth as it is preparing for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, just four years after the XXIII Winter Olympics, which will be held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from the 9th to the 25th of February 2018. Reflecting this positive trend, Alpitec China is growing as well, constantly working to respond to the increasing demands of a booming Asian market.
For all the operators of ski resorts and cable cars that want to be ready for the challenges of the future, the Asia Pacific Snow Conference will once again be the meeting point. The APSC already registered an attendance record with over 400 participants in 2017. On this occasion, Wu Bin presented the results of "The White Book 2016", which examines the status quo of ski resorts in China: since last year, ski resorts have increased by 14% (from 568 to 646) and skiers by 20% (from 12,500,000 to 15,100,000). China has already 850 magic carpets with a total length of 128 km, including 232 new carpets in 2016 (+37.52%). The ski resorts also installed 1180 new snowmaking machines (+29.50%) for a total of 5180. 410 snow grooming machines, 80 of them newly added in 2016 (+24.24%), are used to prepare the slopes.
In this context, the international trade show for mountain and winter technologies has successfully established itself as the leading business and information platform in the Asia-Pacific region. It is a unique opportunity to find out about product innovations presented by the key players of the sector, to maintain relationships with the Chinese costumers and to make new business contacts: “We are proud to provide an important gateway to the rapidly growing Asian winter sports market and are looking forward to writing yet another chapter of this success story in 2018”, says Thomas Mur, Managing Director of Fiera Bolzano.
The 10th edition of Alpitec China will be held from the 24th to the 27th of January 2018 in the China National Convention Center of Beijing, together with ISPO Beijing, the international trade show for winter sports equipment in the Asia-Pacific region.

A significant step to increase awareness of the importance of this sector is the introduction of winter sports as a school subject in China.
Thomas Löffler, Deputy Managing Director of Messe München Shanghai, says, “ISPO Beijing and Alpitec China are rapidly expanding also thanks to the impetus the Chinese Government is giving to outdoor activities and skiing. There are already more than 10 million skiers in China and over 650 ski resorts, whose managers say that tourism is growing by 40% every year. The government is also introducing skiing as a mandatory subject in the school curriculum.”

China is the world’s number one tourism market; a market that is growing by leaps and bounds and which can neither be ignored nor underestimated. The 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, and the 2021 freestyle skiing and snowboarding world championships to be held in Zhangjiakou/Genting, China, a year before the organisation of the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, are creating a real “boom in the perception of snow sports" with their popularity in China growing at an impressive rate. Since 2009, Alpitec China has been the only meeting point in China for the mountain and winter sports technology sector and from 15 to 18 February 2017 it will return to Beijing's China National Convention Center (CNCC) along with ISPO BEIJING.

The Place to Be for China’s Ski Industry
Alpitec China is back: from the 15th to the 18th of February the International Trade Show for Mountain and Winter Technologies is once again taking place together with ISPO Beijing in China’s very own National Convention Center (CNCC), already confirmed as one of the venues for the 2022 Winter Olympics. With 35% more exhibition area, and accompanied by the Asia Pacific Snow Conference – scheduled to be held on Thursday, the 16th – it is sure to re-establish itself as the place to be for managers and decision makers of budding ski resorts all over China.
Bolzano, February 2017 – The Chinese winter sports sector is already preparing itself for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, and what better place to get inputs and learn about the latest trends for the Chinese skiing sector than Alpitec China 2017, the International Trade Show for Mountain and Winter Technologies? Alpitec China has been taking place for nine editions together with ISPO Beijing, and is once again going to present itself as the leading B2B platform for the Chinese winter technology sector: 68 exhibitors and exhibiting brands from a total of 11 countries - Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Russia and the United States – have booked their spot at the show this year, on a total exhibition area of 2,700 square meters, which marks an area increase of no less than 35% compared to the edition of 2016.
In Hall 1 of the CNCC, China’s ski resort managers and decision makers will be able to find everything they are looking for – or, as the Chinese language so strikingly puts it: “yingyou jinyou” (to have all that one could wish for): from ropeway systems, snowmakers, snow grooming machines, snow mobiles, ski rental and safety equipment, ticketing and admission systems to ski resort design and real estate investment consulting. The exhibition offerings of Alpitec China is completed by ISPO Beijing, the Leading Multi-Segment Sports Exhibition in Asia, focusing especially on winter sports equipment, fashion and accessories, which results in a 360 degrees overview for the Asian winter sports sector.
Supplementing these outstanding exhibitions, the Asia Pacific Snow Conference (APSC), born from a cooperation between Alpitec China and ISPO Academy, is scheduled to take place on Thursday, the 16th of February. The APSC offers valuable insights into the Chinese ski industry and is dedicated to everybody interested in the further development of China’s already booming ski resorts. According to Benny Wu’s “China Ski Industry Whitebook of 2015”, which is regarded as the first and only collection of reliable statistical data on the subject, in the past 19 years, China has witnessed the development of 568 ski resorts, featuring 198 aerial lifts, 367 surface lifts, 618 magic carpets and over 12 million skiers.
At the APSC 2017 Mr. Wu (Wu Bin), Chief Strategy Officer of the Ski Resorts Division (Vanke Group) and Vice Chairman of the Vanke Songhua Lake Resort, is going to be the first to present his long awaited new Whitebook of 2016, confirming the positive trend in the development of the Chinese ski industry, and forecasting a further growth in what already is the largest winter sports market worldwide.
Following Mr. Wu, a number of well renowned national and international speakers are going to take the stage at the APSC, presenting case studies of successful ski resort management from China, Italy, Japan, France and Korea. Another key topic are the challenges Chinese mid and small ski resorts will be facing in the ever changing environment of the coming years leading up to the 2022 Winter Olympics - the final APSC panel discussion featuring industry experts from China is subsequently going to focus on possible insights and valuable conclusions that can be drawn from what will have been heard and seen at the APSC 2017.
