 KLIMAENERGY 2009
The Green Energy Market at KLIMAENERGY 09

KLIMAENERGY 2009

On the wave of excellent results recorded during the first version of “Klimaenergy”, the organizers have positive expectations for this year’s edition, scheduled in Bolzano September 24-26. The majority of exhibitors from “Klimaenergy ’08” have already indicated their intention of participating at the next edition, too, which will put on display all of the technologies in the field of renewable energy for commercial and public use, with particular attention to their application within integrated systems.

Bolzano, March 6, 2009 – From September 24 to 26, 2009, the exhibition district of Bolzano will welcome the second edition of “Klimaenergy”, the only tradeshow devoted to the commercial and public use of renewable energy, with particular attention to their application within integrated systems. For “Klimaenergy ’09”, which is directed at a specialized public of those working in the field, the organizers from the Bolzano Exhibition Center (Fiera Bolzano) will be sticking with the winning formula of the first edition.
“Klimaenergy ’08 hit the bull’s eye,” affirmed Gernot Rössler, President of Fiera Bolzano. “More than seventy percent of the visitors who came to Fiera Bolzano on occasion of the renewable energies tradeshow work in the field, as engineers and designers, construction workers, in the agricultural and hotel trades, and as executives for the production and distribution of energy. For this reason, Fiera Bolzano chose to remain with the winning formula of Klimaenergy from the previous edition, reinforced by the exhibitors’ enthusiasm.”
The tradeshow sectors are divided into fifteen categories: biofuels, biogas, biomass, cogeneration and regeneration, financing, fuel cells, geothermal, hydrogen, photovoltaic, research institutes, services, solar cooling, solar heating, specialized printing, and wind.
According to the recent study “The Green Virtuous Circle: Propensity for Purchase and Availability of Expenditure – How Much is Today’s Green Energy Market Worth?”, conducted by the international consulting firm Arthur D. Little in collaboration with GSE, (Gestore Servizi Elettrici) [Electrical Service Provider], Italy is a market that is heading more and more toward the use of renewable energy, with incremental values in terms of revenues amounting to around 428 million euros. The study examined the context relating to the certification of the current and forecast consumption of electrical energy by a sample of nine hundred representatives of three market segments: Industry (processing, organized mass distribution, agribusiness), Public Administration (central and local,
education and health, public buildings and athletic facilities) and Domestic Users. The goal of the study was to provide an analysis of market potential linked to the consumption of electrical energy produced by renewable energy sources and to certify production (green pricing), as well as to identify possible evolutions and dynamics of the market, guiding users within the complex frame of reference of green energy.   Within the analysis pool, industrial utilization represents 62.4% of the current consumption of green energy, with a potential increase in revenues that can be reinvested of over 327 million euros (76.5% of the total estimated market). This is the segment most interested in green energy and most ready to invest in it. In the analysis pool, Public Administrations represent only 2.2% of current green energy consumption and 3.4% of the potential revenue increases that may be reinvested, equal to 14 million euros.  This growing interest by the industrial/commercial and public sectors in the use of renewable energy is attested to by the success of the first edition of “Klimaenergy”, held in October 2008. It welcomed nearly five thousand visitors from the sector from seventy-one Italian provinces and six foreign countries, predominantly from Germany. A total of 175 exhibitors participated on an area of around 8,000 sq. m. (87,000 sq. ft.). They expressed such great satisfaction for the contacts made during the tradeshow that the vast majority (89%) indicated their intention to return to the next edition.
Among the numerous positive accounts is that of Giuseppe Petrelli, Northwest Area Sales Manager for ISCOM S.p.A., a company manufacturing integrated photovoltaic systems. He underlined the high quality of the tradeshow’s visitors. “We had a whole array of interesting contacts. Bolzano is an excellent location for a tradeshow such as Klimaenergy: in Alto Adige, an outstanding sensitivity for renewable energies is alive and well. A well-developed culture on the subject has already existed for years, and this is even more evident in comparison to cities like Bologna or Milan, where this type of culture is still at its infancy and not nearly as driven.  As a company, we participated in events relating to the topic of energy in those cities, too, and only twenty percent of the visitors were interested in us, while here this percentage is much, much higher.”
Excellent results were also obtained in the hydroelectric sector. Norbert Troyer, proprietor of Turbinenbau Troyer S.r.l., indicated that “Klimaenergy” had completely exceeded his own expectations. “There were many more visitors than we had hoped for who came to Alto Adige expressly for Klimaenergy, even from distant regions like Piedmont. In Italy, Alto Adige is the forerunner in the field of renewable energies, and the conference and forum were fundamental meeting points. The demand is very high, so it would be advisable to repeat this tradeshow annually. On top of that, it was an important occasion for us to meet other parties with whom we can possibly collaborate.”
Martin Atzwanger, CEO of Atzwanger S.p.A., who exhibited systems making use of biomass, biogas, and cogeneration, also indicated that he was very satisfied with the first edition of this event. “I am very pleased. Interest was brisk, and our presence at Klimaenergy contributed to the growth of our image with the public of Alto Adige.”
As also emphasized by many exhibitors, Bolzano represents the ideal setting for a tradeshow such as “Klimaenergy”. The Autonomous Province of Bolzano is at the vanguard of the application of renewable energy. Nearly every form of alternative energy may be found in use within the territory, and local companies and institutions have accumulated extensive know-how that is made available to the exhibitors and visitors of “Klimaenergy ’09” through the numerous initiatives in the program: the international conference on the themes of the event, guided tours of existing plants that use renewable energy, workshops, and specialized lectures.
“Klimaenergy ’09” will offer its exhibitors a complete range of services to facilitate their participation in the tradeshow and make it efficient: from stand set-up to the technology to communications. In addition to the standard package, important communication and marketing services are available to exhibitors for making their company stand out, presenting their innovations, and reinforcing their image in this sector: co-marketing activities offered by Fiera Bolzano, the use of Fiera Bolzano’s press office free of charge for the presentation of product innovations, specific promotion for companies that meet the “Klimaenergy” qualifications, and the possibility of organizing company presentations or lectures with extremely favorable conditions.
